Monica's bio

Monica De Oliveira started dancing ballet at the age of 5 at the Academia do Teatro Municipal De Anapolis, in her native Brazil. At an early age, she joined the Corps de Ballet at Ballet Zulma Emmrich and was ultimately selected for lead roles in The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Swan Lake.  She participated in training sessions with Ivan Alonso (Alicia Alonso’s Grand son) and Leidy Escobar (prima Ballerina of Centro Pro Danza of Cuba).

Miss Monica continuously updates her education by attending workshops in New York City. She attends adult classes at the Boston Ballet School, where she also completed a Summer Workshop for Adults, and in 2006, got the opportunity to perform as a super For Don Quixote at the Wang Theater in Boston’s Citi Performing Arts Center .  

Although she enjoys performing, her true passion is seeing the lights go off in the eyes of her students, as their lives are opened up to the endless possibilities of the art of ballet.
